We are updating our policies regarding the transportation of animals on our scheduled services to align with legislation. Just as importantly, Rise Air wants to ensure the highest standard of welfare for our customers' pets.
These changes do not affect Service Animals, which are animals individually trained by a person or organization specializing in service dog training to perform a task or tasks that assist a person with a disability related to their disability.
From October 15, 2025:
- Animals are not permitted in the cabin area due to limited space and potential allergic reactions, except for service animals that assist customers with disabilities.
- No animals are accepted as checked baggage on our Beechcraft 1900D aircraft cargo hold at any time, due to temperature considerations.
- Animal Carriers:
- All animals must be transported in a hard-plastic or metal airline-approved carrier with a leak-proof bottom and no top exit hatch. Wire lattice cages are not acceptable.
- Animals must be able to stand and turn around comfortably inside the carrier.
- A maximum of three animals from the same litter may be transported together in one container.
- The maximum size of the container/kennel (length + width + height) must not exceed 101 x 69 x 76 cm / 40 x 27 x 30 inches.
- The maximum allowable weight for both the animal and container/kennel must not exceed 75 kg / 165 lbs.
- Animals under eight weeks old are not permitted unless accompanied by a letter of exception from a registered veterinarian.
- 24 hours’ notice must be given when a reservation is made that a passenger is travelling with a pet (including type and weight of pet and size of kennel). Passengers travelling on a standby ticket are not permitted to transport animals as checked baggage.
- The animal must be travelling on the same flight as the passenger, and must check in at least 1 hour prior to departure with the pet.
- A handling fee of $75.00 plus GST is charged to the passenger and must be prepaid.
- For animal health and welfare reasons, animals will not be permitted as checked baggage each winter between November 1 and March 31, unless transported on an ATR 42/72 and DHC-6 type aircraft.
- The following breeds are restricted due to health and welfare risks during transport and will only be accepted for veterinary emergencies where proof of appointment is provided:
Dogs:
| Affenpinscher | Brussels Griffon | English Toy Spaniel | Pit Bull | Staffordshire Bull Terrier |
| American Staffordshire Terrier | Bulldog (all breeds) | Japanese Chin | Presa Canario | Tibetan Spani |

Rise Air reserves the right to deny animals as checked baggage, including but not limited to concerns over animal health and welfare.
